Goal 1: Marketing and Brand

The College will define and leverage its brand to achieve the aspiration and to position the College for sustainable competitive advantage.

Objectives

1. Analyze existing research data and commission new research to determine how the College is known and what we do well.

2. Validate existing brand and/or rebrand as appropriate.

3. Design and implement a three-year marketing and communication plan that leverages the brand for sustainable competitive advantage.

Goal 2: Students

The College will provide a learning environment that engages and supports all students in order to ensure their academic, personal, and professional success.

Objectives

1. Increase the availability and quality of student services on all campuses.

2. Mentor every traditional undergraduate, especially in the first college year, so that they develop a clear sense of purpose, succeed academically, and grow as whole persons.

3. Link the curriculum and the co-curriculum in order to promote active, collaborative, problem-based, and experiential learning.

Goal 3: Academic Programs

To increase our competitive advantage, the College will refine existing programs and develop new programs in response to outcomes assessment and ongoing market research.

Objectives

1. Validate market relevance of current programs and the degree to which they address learners’ needs.

2. Establish the desired learning outcomes for the traditional undergraduate program, align the curriculum with those outcomes, and continuously improve the curriculum based on outcomes assessment.

3. Develop a “portable” Medaille that meets market needs and uses low residency, off-site, hybrid, and on-line offerings to serve additional students and satisfy community needs.

Goal 4: Faculty and Staff

Align the professional practice of faculty and staff with the College’s mission, aspiration, and strategic priorities.

Objectives

1. Promote instructional practice that supports Medaille’s aspiration through an increasing emphasis on active, collaborative, problem-based, and experiential learning.

2. Create a professional development program that equips all faculty with the pedagogical tools that correlate with student engagement and success.

3. Refine the annual evaluation process so that individual goals are linked to the strategic plan and every self-evaluation provides evidence of reflective practice.

Goal 5: Enrollment and Retention

Recruit, retain, and graduate students at increasing rates.

Objectives

1. Develop and implement an integrated recruitment plan that reflects a coherent institution-wide strategy.

2. Develop and implement a comprehensive retention plan that improves student satisfaction and persistence.

3. Increase graduation rates to levels comparable with our peers.

Goal 6: Resource Development

The College will aggressively seek financial support from and partnering opportunities with our stakeholders.

Objectives

1. Extend and deepen the College’s relationship with alumni and other stakeholders, particularly in our regional community.

2. Complete a comprehensive review of development operations and goals to produce a strategic fundraising plan for the next five years that is linked to institutional objectives.

3. Design and launch a fundraising campaign and incorporate its goals and objectives into the College budget.

Goal 7: Planning and Budgeting

Planning and budgeting will ensure that resource allocation is directed by the goals and objectives in the College’s strategic plan.

Objectives

1. Create and deploy an annual budget process that involves stakeholders in allocating resources to achieve the College’s goals and objectives and improve quality.

2. Develop a rolling, three-year business and financial plan that advances the College’s interests in the face of internal and external challenges and opportunities.

3. Identify appropriate financial modeling techniques and use them to evaluate and make decisions about all proposed strategic investments.

Goal 8: Facilities and Physical Resources

The College’s technical and physical resources will be directed toward the ever-evolving demands of student life and learning.

Objectives

1. Complete a multi-campus master plan that addresses the future learning and living/learning needs of students and supports the aspiration.

2. Prioritize and implement capital improvements based on the multi-campus master plan and strategic plan.

3. Provide technology resources that meet current and ongoing needs of students and the College as a whole.

Goal 9: The Organization of the Organization

The College will become an organization comprised of reflective practitioners with the habits of mind and work appropriate to a self-directing, self-monitoring, and self-improving institution of higher education.

Objectives

1. Model reflective practice.

2. Create structures and habits that lead to higher levels of accountability and strategic behavior.

3. Develop the skills needed by all employees in a strategic organization.
