Marisa ClarkFor the second straight week Marisa Clark (Sr. - Hilton, NY/Women’s Basketball) garnered this honor as she played tremendous all around basketball leading the Lady Mavs to a 2-0 week as they finished the regular season at 23-2 overall and (17-1) in AMCC play. With a 7 steal performance against Hilbert College she became the first Medaille basketball player to reach the 400 steal mark for a career.

Jake ReisdorfJake Reisdorf’s (Jr. - Strykersville, NY/Men’s Basketball) tremendous defense and timely shooting helped the Mavs to a 1-1 week. In a huge win over Hilbert propelling Medaille to their first-ever AMCC tournament berth, Jake was a stalwart on the defensive end and hit a couple of crucial buckets down the stretch in that great 77-57 victory. The Mavs finished the regular season at 14-11 overall and 9-9 in league play.

Cross Country Coach Allison Carr Competes in USA Track and Field Indoor Championships

Allison Carr, men’s and women’s cross country coach, competed in the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 23 in Boston in the 1500 meter run. Carr finished eighth with a time of 4:34.93.

The West Seneca resident was named the Buffalo News Runner of the Year in 2007 and in four of the past five years.

LeFevre Named Head Medaille Women’s Soccer Coach

Chris LeFevreMedaille College has named Chris LeFevre as the women’s soccer team head coach.

As the fourth head coach in the program’s history, LeFevre will take over for Dan Krzyzanowicz, who coached the Lady Mavs from 2004-07 and compiled a 42-33-3 record in four seasons.

Pete Lonergan, director of athletics and head women’s basketball coach, says, “I am delighted to welcome Chris LeFevre to our Athletic Department. He brings an excellent background and coaching credentials that will suit him well in his new position with us. Hiring a new head coach, devoted exclusively to women’s soccer, is another indication of our commitment to excellence for all our programs.”

LeFevre brings a wealth of athletics knowledge and a record of coaching success to the women’s soccer team. He worked as an assistant men’s coach at Canisius College before moving on to Genesee Community College. He served as head coach of the men’s program for three seasons and the head women’s coach for two years. He compiled a 40-17-1 record with the men’s team and led them to the 2006 Regional Final Four and the 2007 Western New York Athletic Conference Championship. As women’s coach, his teams went 20-15-0, reached the Regional Final Four, and won the Western New York Athletic Conference Championship.

LeFevre has coached three All-American, 12 All-Region, and 18 All-Conference players. He earned his Advanced National Diploma through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He has a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Adelphi University and a Master’s of Science in Sports Administration from Canisius College. Chris and his wife Betsy reside in Akron, NY.

Marisa ClarkIn a 2-0 week for the Lady Mavs, Marisa Clark (Sr. - Hilton, NY/Women’s Basketball) played brilliantly. In a big win over Penn State-Altoona she flirted with a triple/double as she scored 14 points, pulled down 8 boards, dished out 9 assists while coming up with 6 steals.

Keith HackIn a 1-1 week for the Mavs, Keith Hack (So. - Hopewell Junction, NY/Men’s Basketball)
led the charge. In a thrilling 54-52 win over Penn State-Altoona he hit the game-winning bucket with one second remaining. On the day he registered a game high 21 points. That was on the heels of a double/double that he posted in a tough loss at Penn State-Behrend.

Amanda BakerIn a 1-1 week for the 11th ranked Lady Mavs, Amanda Baker (Sr. – Lyons, NY/Women’s Basketball) averaged a double/double with 16 points and 13 rebounds a game. She is currently third in the AMCC in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage.

Drew LewandowskiIn a 3-2 week for the Mavs, Drew Lewandowski (Sr. – Kenmore, NY/Men’s Volleyball) led the way as he passed out 175 assists, came up with 37 digs and had 5 blocks. Drew moved into fourth place on the all time digs list, he now has 481 for his career.

Amanda WallingIn a 2-0 week for the 12th ranked Lady Mavs, Amanda Walling (Sr. – South New Berlin, NY/Women’s Basketball) averaged 10.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. In their win over Frostburg State she posted team highs with 12 points and 11 boards, 7 on the offensive glass. The Lady Mavs have won eighteen straight.

Kelly CondelloIn a 2-0 week for the Mavs, Kelly Condello (So. – Fairport, NY/Men’s Basketball) averaged 11.5 points. In the teams first ever win over Frostburg State he tallied a career high 19 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the floor. The Mavs have won six straight games.

Athletes of the Week: January 28, 2008

Alyssa NegliaIn the program’s first ever tournament win at the Hawk Invitational (Utica, NY), Alyssa Neglia (Fr. – Lockport, NY/Women’s Bowling) won the Women’s Overall portion of the event and bowled a high game of 277. She was named the top pick in the All Tournament selections.

Ryan MetzRyan Metz (So. – Cheektowaga, NY/Men’s Volleyball) had a monster week in which the Mavs went a perfect 5-0. He registered 92 kills, had a .410 kill percentage, and came up with 26 digs. Ryan is a nominee for the AVCA National Player of the Week award.

Amanda WallingIn a 2-0 week for the Lady Mavs, Amanda Walling (Sr. – South New Berlin, NY/Women’s Basketball) continued her stellar play as she averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists. She hit on 4 of 6 three point attempts and shot 50% from the floor for the week.

James McNeilWith a pair of 19 point performances in a 1-1 week for the Mavs, James McNeil (Sr. – Erie, PA/Men’s Basketball)became the all time scoring leader in school history. He now has 1,296 points for his career.

Lady Mavs Beat Penn State-Behrend, Continue Winning Streak

The Lady Mavs women’s basketball team survived a slow start and used stifling defense to overwhelm AMCC foe Penn State-Behrend (52-26) in the Sullivan Center on January 16. The Lady Mavs used the defensive pressure that has moved them to the #18 ranking in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Poll. It was a total team effort as twelve players found the score sheet and none scored more than ten points. The Lady Mavs held Behrend to 11 points in the first half and forced them to shoot 16.4% from the field.

Sara Bukas '08In the win Medaille was led by Amanda Walling ‘08 (South New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) who registered a team high 10 points to go along with 7 boards. Sara Bukas ‘08 (Hamburg, NY/Holy Angels) scored 8 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. The win brings the Lady Mavs to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in AMCC play. They will head to Penn State-Altoona for another conference game on Saturday (1/19) for a 1:00 p.m. game.
