Women’s Basketball Team Advances to AMCC Championship Game

March 1st, 2008 Kara Kane Posted in Athletics News No Comments »

For the third straight year, the women’s basketball team will play in the AMCC Championship game as they used a strong second half performance to crush Penn State-Behrend 50-26 in the semifinals.

The first half was sloppy for both teams as they combined for 27 turnovers and only 34 points in the opening stanza. The Lady Mavs used stifling defense and hot shooting down the stretch to put the Lions away. Along the way a tremendous milestone was achieved as senior guard Marisa Clark (Hilton, NY/Hilton) moved into 10th place on the NCAA Division III all-time assists list with her 8 assist performance. She now has 642 helpers in her illustrious career.

Senior forward Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) asserted herself in the second half and finished the game with 14 points and 7 boards, both were game highs. The win moves Medaille to 24-2 overall. The Lady Mavs will take on Pitt-Greensburg, who were 74-63 winners over Lake Erie College on Saturday, March 1 at 3 p.m. on Medaille’s Main Campus in the Campus Center.
