For the second time in three years, the Medaille College women’s basketball team has advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament.
The team held off a stubborn University of Scranton squad with a 56-54 score. With only 38 points scored in the first half of play, Medaille headed to the locker room with a 22-17 advantage. Senior guard Marisa Clark (Hilton, NY/Hilton) scored 12 of her team-high 14 points in the second half. Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) posted another double/double with 11 points and 16 boards. The win over Scranton takes the team to its best record ever at 26-2.
The Lady Mavs face the University of Rochester in round two of the tournament in Scranton, Penn. on Saturday, March 8 at 7 p.m. Earlier this season, Medaille beat Rochester on their home floor, 67-51. That match’s winner heads to the Sweet 16.
 
Amanda Baker (Sr. – Lyons, NY/Women’s Basketball) led the Lady Mavs to a third-straight AMCC Tournament Championship as she posted 32 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in their two games. In the championship game she was dominating as she had 18 points and pulled down 15 boards, both were game highs.
