Alpha Chi chapter recognized for book donation drive

Medaille College’s Alpha Chi chapter was recognized by the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society for its efforts to collect and distribute books and toys in Buffalo in 2009-2010.

For a second year, Alpha Chi adopted literacy as its service project, and its chapters reported donating nearly 3,000 children’s books. Of that total, Medaille distributed 620 books, which amounted to one-fifth the total, and was the highest donation reported by any school in the country. Dennis M. Organ, executive director of Alpha Chi, noted in his correspondence with Dr. Kevin Bosner, assistant professor of business and advisor to the local chapter, “What an example of generosity and hard work!”

Alpha Chi chapter officers accompanied Dr. Bosner to the national convention in Little Rock, Ark.: President Rachael Schneider, Vice President Teresa Schau, and Treasurer Brandon Carncross. Secretary Michele Wiepert and Project Coordinator Kelly Rose were unable to attend the convention, but were instrumental in the project’s success.

Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic honor society.  Since 1922 its purpose has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction.
