Medaille students, faculty and staff came together to “Take Back the Night” on Monday, April 12. Take Back the Night walks are designed to raise awareness of sexual violence in all forms. Thousands of colleges, women’s centers and community organizations throughout the United States hold similar events each year.
Chris Spicer of Planned Parenthood of WNY spoke on men’s issues, the issue of violence and sexual assault, the history of Take Back the Night, and ways in which attendees can be part of the solution to end violence. In a collaboration with Canisius College and its Light up the Darkness Walk, the Medaille and Canisius Campus Safety Departments led a walk from Medaille’s campus, made a loop through the Canisius campus, and arrived back at Medaille for refreshments.
