Medaille College has appointed five new members on its board of trustees, effective July 1, 2009.
The new trustees are: Dr. Peter J. Freyburger of Buffalo; Horace Gioia, Esq. of Buffalo; Robert Stevenson of Buffalo; Stephen L. Cicchinelli of Maryland; and the Honorable Frank A. Sedita Jr. of Buffalo. Each will serve a three-year term.

Moran, Jr., chair of the board of trustees and president and chief operating officer of Delaware North Companies. “Its flexibility and creativity, coupled with small classes and hands-on learning, continue to draw students to its many degree programs.”
Cicchinelli is a 1998 graduate of Medaille, with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He served as president of Medaille College’s Alumni Board from 2008-09, and is the director of customer response in the Potomac region for Verizon Communications.
Dr. Freyberger co-founded the Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic in Tonawanda, where he now serves as president and hospital director. He earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Cornell University, and recently published a book, Vetting: The Making of a Veterinarian.
Gioia is a partner in the law firm of Rupp, Baase, Pfalzgraf, Cunningham & Coppola LLC. He is a graduate of Hamilton College and the University of Buffalo School of Law.
Sedita is a New York State Supreme Court justice in the Eighth Judicial District (Erie County), with previous experience as a judge for the Erie County Family Court, Buffalo City Court, and Erie County Supreme Court. He is a graduate of Canisius College and the University at Buffalo School of Law.
Stevenson is the president and CEO of the Eastman Machine Company in Buffalo, and previously served as a trustee from 1991 to 2003.
As of July 1, Charles E. Moran, Jr. will serve as chair, Michael K. Walsh will serve as treasurer, and Andrés Garcia will serve as assistant secretary.
Don Tomasulo, a 1979 graduate of Medaille, will replace Cicchinelli as an ex-officio member based on his status as the current president of Medaille’s Alumni Board.
William M. Collins, Tom Donahoe, Joseph G. Makowski and Dr. Kathleen C. Owens completed their terms of service as of June 30, 2009.
