Students and teachers from local middle schools demonstrated art and poetry at the Arts in Education Institute of Western New York (AIEIWNY) Legislators Breakfast at Medaille College’s Buffalo Campus on Friday, February 20.
Comments by Jackie Albarella, Executive Director of AIEIWNY, and Dr. Richard T. Jurasek, president of Medaille College, spoke of the critical need to support arts education in public schools as a way of enhancing student learning. Further statements addressed the possibility of building a partnership between AIEIWNY and Medaille to support arts initiatives in Western New York schools.
The Arts in Education Institute’s innovative programs in dance, music, theatre, visual arts and architecture encourage students to use their creativity and imagination as tools for learning. Our programs help students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills which are increasingly important in the 21st century workplace, while also providing them with the joy of exploration.
