The Perspective student newspaper has been awarded a gold medal by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in their annual critique of student newspapers throughout the country. In addition, the publication received All-Columbian Honors in two out of three categories for concept and presentation.
The judges’ feedback noted the talent of the staff and the very complete campus coverage the Perspective provides as some of the reasons for the award.
“The staff appreciates the strong support of the entire campus community and will continue to look for ways to improve throughout the year,” says James Witherow, the Perspective’s Editor-in-Chief. “One of our goals for the rest of the semester is to improve outreach to clubs and organizations and cover their events and activities with a stronger focus on campus connections. We also would like to feature more students from across disciplines as they pursue their academic achievements.”
