Medaille College unveiled the Vincent and Harriet Palisano Foundation Television Studio, a newly-renovated facility for undergraduate students, at a ribbon-cutting event on Friday, November 7, 2008. The Vincent and Harriet Palisano Foundation has provided $125,000 to fund the studio’s renovation and equipment needs.
The event included remarks from: Dr. Richard T. Jurasek, Medaille College President; Jay Beardsley, representing the Vincent and Harriet Palisano Foundation; Lisa Van Valkinburgh, Clinical Associate Professor of the Communication Department; and, Dominic Klos, a student in the Communication Department.
The renovation of the television studio will provide undergraduate students with direct experience using the latest in broadcast technology. In addition to three high-definition video cameras, teleprompters, and a lighting grid with control console, the control room was reconfigured with 37” and 22” LCD monitors, a 16-channel audio mixer and an ergonomically-designed console and rack system. The facility will allow students to record broadcasts on optical discs, with options for standard-definition and high-definition formats.
