Vet Tech Appreciation Week
Vet Tech Appreciation Week will take place from Saturday, October 11 through Friday, October 17. A series of events will relate directly to the Veterinary Technology program, which has 90 first-year students, 75 second-year students, and others who are earning bachelor’s degrees in veterinary technology or biology.
“I wanted to get involved with Vet Tech Week because I am extremely passionate about our Vet Tech program here at Medaille,” says Kayla Richardson, who is majoring in veterinary technology. ”Many outsiders don’t know much about our program, but our program is American Veterinary Medical Association certified, which means we have the expectations and course curriculum to earn this certification. The program and facilities must pass a grueling evaluation and inspection from AVMA officials,” Richardson says.
“The purpose of the week is to appreciate and celebrate being a vet tech. The career itself is extremely rewarding, but sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge, and demanding at times,” she continues. “The field is filled with a group of passionate people who love and care about animals.”
“Overall, our students receive a hands on learning experience from their first year and it shows as many practices can tell a ‘Medaille Tech’ from other schools. Vet Tech Appreciation week is a first-time event here at Medaille and I am looking forward to a week to celebrate an amazing group of talented and kind-hearted people,” she explains.
