Workforce Development Initiative Will Educate Western New York Workers

by Kara Kane on September 4, 2008

Medaille College has created a workforce development training initiative to benefit western New York residents with retraining and education options as they search for employment. The program will be a joint effort between Medaille College and Silvia Morales-Fakler of Atsilvia.com, a bilingual (Spanish/English) Buffalo-based training and consultancy company.

“Medaille College’s partnership with Atsilvia.com is one more way Medaille is working to meet the educational needs of western New York,” said Judith Horowitz, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Dean of the School of Adult and Graduate Admissions. “We will be able to reach out with technological training that is in high demand by local and regional employers.”

The initial phase of the program is planned to serve about 20 students in an 85-hour program held on Medaille College’s Main Campus in early evening and weekend classes. Participants will earn certification as Microsoft® Certified Application Specialists, a credential signifying proficiency in the newest standard of desktop computing applications and operating systems.
