Medaille Finishes Strong in Recyclemania
The 2008 Recyclemania Competition results are in, and Medaille College finished 14th out of 56 schools nationwide. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), “Recylemania participants recycled more than 58 million pounds of waste. These efforts decreased greenhouse emissions by 25,342 metric tons of carbon equivalent. This equates to the annual greenhouse gas emissions from 17,018 passenger vehicles.”
As the summer begins, look for other ways to be “green” on campus. Here are some suggestions:
- Use china and silverware rather than Styrofoam in the cafeteria.
- Print less and keep your documents electronic.
- Carpool or take mass transportation to work.
- Use cloth/reusable bags at the store.
- Use a reusable water bottle and cut down on plastic bottles.
- Recycle used ink cartridges.
