Perspective staff attends College Media Advisers National Convention

Perpective staff on their tripSeven undergraduate students on the Perspective staff attended the College Media Advisers Spring National Convention in New York City from March 16-18.

Collectively, the staff learned tips about issues such as people management, photography, writing styles, and elements of design. Valerie Plame Wilson, a former CIA covert operations officer, gave the keynote address.

Megan Fitzgerald ‘10 said, “Attending the conference was a unique experience that will be sure to benefit the Perspective. The variety of sessions and the freedom to attend which sessions you found the most interesting was especially nice, since editors of different departments could attend specialized sessions. We were also able to see student newspapers from all over the country, which will help us to evaluate where we are lacking and where we excel.”

Along with Perspective adviser Lisa Murphy, students who made the trip included: Nick Calandra ‘11, Megan Fitzgerald ‘10, Shawn Arrajj ‘10, Lisa Cialfi ‘09, James Witherow ‘09, Summer Gemmati ‘08 and Courtney Pellett ‘08.
