Balanced Attack Leads Mavs to 5th Straight

(Bradford, PA) - The Medaille College men’s basketball team won their fifth straight game tonight as they controlled Pitt-Bradford (65-51). The Mavs have revitalized their season after dropping six straight games. It was a total team effort this evening as ten Mavs found the scoring column. Leading the way was junior, guard, Jacob Reisdorf (Strykersville, NY/Holland) who tallied a team high (13) points to go along with (6) boards. Freshman, Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) chipped in with (11) points on (5 of 7) shooting. The Mavs find themselves at (11-7) overall, matching last years win total, and (6-5) in AMCC play. They will host Frostburg State University on Saturday (2/2) at 3:00pm. (Dated 1.30.08)

#12 Lady Mavs Keep Rolling

(Bradford, PA) - For the seventeenth straight game the Lady Mavs proved superior as they upended AMCC foe Pitt-Bradford (79-62). In the most recent ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll the Lady Mavs received their highest ever ranking at #12 and they continue to prove their worth. In the win Medaille was led by senior, forward, Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) who tallied a game high (21) points to go along with (7) boards. In Medaille’s win over Mt. Aloysius on Saturday (1/26), Amanda became the first player (male or female) to reach the (1,000) rebound mark for a career. After this evenings effort she now has (1,013) rebounds in her remarkable career. Coming off the bench and giving a spark for Medaille was freshman, Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park), who poured in (12) points on (5 of 6) shooting from the field. The Lady Mavs find themselves at (17-1) overall and (11-0) in AMCC play as they will host Frostburg State University on Saturday (2/2) at 1:00pm. (Dated 1.30.08)

Volleyball Beats EMU and Niagara College

(Buffalo, NY) - The Medaille College men’s volleyball team lived up to their #13 ranking as they dispensed of both Eastern Mennonite University and Niagara College (Ont.) in the Sullivan Center this afternoon. In their first match, the Mavs held on to beat EMU (3-1); (33-31, 28-30, 30-23, 30-17) as Ryan Metz (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) led the way with (19) kills while freshman, libero, Dan Jackson (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) played strong defensively coming up with a team high (16) digs. In the days second match the Mavs were too much for Niagara College from Ontario, Canada as they upended the Knights (3-0); (30-27, 30-20, 30-25). The Mavs used a total team effort enroute to victory. Sophomore, Ryan Murdie (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) came up with (6) kills and only committed (1) error against Niagara, for the year Ryan has only (5) hitting errors. With the pair of wins the Mavs improve to (3-2) on the season as they will head to Utica, NY tomorrow (1/27) to take on SUNY-IT and the College of Mt. St. Vincent at 12:00pm and 2:00pm respectively. Men’s Basketball Stays Hot at Mt. Aloysius

(Cresson, PA) - For the fourth straight game the Medaille College men’s baketball team found a way to win as they went to Mt. Aloysius and upended the Mounties (96-89). The Mavs took a seven point lead into halftime and the two teams played evenly in the second half but Keith Hack (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) proved to be the difference maker as he scored a game high (and career high) (26) points on (11 of 19) shooting and grabbed a game high (11) boards. Senior, guard, James McNeil (Erie, PA/North West Collegiate) dropped in (24) points for the Mavs as that duo made a big difference in the Maverick win. The win puts the Mavs in double digits in the win column as they are now (10-7) overall and they even their conference mark at (5-5). They will head to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday (1/30) to take on the Panthers at 8:00pm. (Dated 1.26.08)

Lady Mavs Cruise to 16th Straight Win

(Cresson, PA) - The Lady Mavs kept rolling today as they overwhelmed the Mounties from Mt. Aloysius College (77-51). The win is the sixteenth straight for the #14 ranked Lady Mavs. The Mounties played tough in the first half, going into the break only down nine (36-27). However, the Lady Mavs would come out of the locker room flying as they went on a (20-2) run to start the second half. From that point on Medaille would cruise to victory. In the win the Lady Mavs were led by senior, forward, Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) who poured in (21) points and pulled down (8) boards in only (20) minutes of play. Senior, guard, Amanda Walling (South New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) contributed with (10) points and (7) rebounds for Medaille. The win moves Medaille to (16-1) overall and they remain perfect in AMCC play at (10-0). The Lady Mavs will head to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday (1/30) for a 6:00pm tipoff. (Dated 1.26.08)

Three Straight Wins For Men’s Hoops

(Buffalo, NY) - A week ago the Medaille College men’s basketball team was mired in a six game slump. What a difference a week makes as they won their third straight game this evening holding off a tough La Roche College squad (67-63). It was a game that saw La Roche get out to an early double digit lead but the Mavs scrapped and clawed their way to a (34-34) tie at the break. The game was a back and forth affair during the second half but Medaille dominated on the boards and converted critical second chance points. The Mavs were led by sophomore, Kelly Condello (Fairport, NY/Fairport) who scored a team high (11) points on (5 of 9) shooting from the floor. Putting up good numbers for Medaille was Keith Hack (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) who tallied (8) points and collected a game high (10) boards. The win moves Medaille to (9-7) overall and (4-5) in conference play. They will head to Altoona, PA on Saturday (1/26) to take on Mt. Aloysius College for a 3:00pm tipoff. (Dated 1.23.08)

Lady Mavs Remain Perfect in AMCC

(Buffalo, NY) - The Medaille College women’s basketball team used a (29-2) run midway through the first half to cruise past La Roche College (61-46). The win is the fifteenth straight for the 14th ranked Lady Mavs. The visiting Redhawks started out of the gate hot as they built a (19-14) lead with (7:18) left in the first half. Medaille responded with stifling defense and ran into halftime with a (26-19) lead. The lead would swell to (55-29) with (6:26) remaining on a jumper in the lane by Carissa Ferrucci (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata), she would finish the day with (10) points. Leading the way for Medaille was senior, forward, Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark), who notched a game high (14) points to go along with (8) rebounds. The win moves Medaille to (15-1) overall and (9-0) in AMCC action. They will head to Mt. Aloysius College on Saturday (1/26) for a 1:00pm contest. (Dated 1.23.08)

Bowling Wins 1st Ever Tournament

(Utica, NY) - The Medaille College women’s bowling team is in its first year of intercollegiate competition and it didn’t take them long to make an impact as they took home the championship of the Hawk Invitational hosted by Mohawk Valley C.C.. The Lady Mavs received strong individual efforts by Kim Wangler (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) who won the singles event with a (233) average. While Alyssa Neglia (Lockport, NY/Lockport) won the overall title with a high game of (277). Each of whom was named to the All Tournament Team. The Lady Mavs are currently (6-2) on the season as they will head to Schenectady, NY for their final competition. (Dated 1.23.08)

Volleyball Notches First Victory

(Buffalo, NY) - After suffering tough losses in their first two matches the men’s volleyball team registered their first win of the 2008 season as they held off Mercyhurst (3-2); (25-30, 30-24, 30-21, 28-30, 15-12) this evening. The Mavs overcame some shaky serving by pounding out (72) kills for a (.392) team hitting percentage. Leading the way for Medaille was sophomore, Ryan Metz (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) who put down a game high (29) kills. Senior, setter, Drew Lewandowski (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West), assisted on (62) of the teams (72) kills as he continued his strong play. The Mavs move to (1-2) on the year with the win. On Saturday (1/26), Medaille will host a tri-match with Eastern Mennonite University and Niagara College with game times of 3, 5, and 7pm. (Dated 1.22.08)

Mavs Win Second Straight

(Hamburg, NY) - The Medaille College men’s basketball team got a much needed win as they outlasted Hilbert College (66-61) at the Hafner Recreation Center. The win keeps the Mavs in the AMCC postseason hunt as they finally put together back to back wins after upending Penn State-Altoona on Saturday. In the win Medaille was led by senior, James McNeil (Erie, PA/North West Collegiate) and sophomore, Keith Hack (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) who each scored (15) points, Hack did so on (6 of 9) shooting from the floor. The win moves the Mavs back over the (.500) mark as they currently stand at (8-7) overall and improve to (3-5) in conference play. The Mavs will look for a third straight win as they host La Roche College on Wednesday (1/23) for a 7:00pm tipoff. (Dated 1.21.08)

Win Streak Reaches 14 For Lady Mavs

(Hamburg, NY) - Since losing their season opener the Lady Mavs have reeled of fourteen straight victories as they did again today, cruising past Hilbert (69-39). It was a balanced team effort that led Medaille past the Hawks as (12 of 15) players found the scoring ledger. Leading the charge were senior, center, Sara Bukas (Hamburg, NY/Holy Angels) and freshman, forward, Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park), Bukas tallied a team high (11) points, while Sahhar netted (9). Also, chipping in with a strong effort was Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) who tossed in (10) points and pulled down (8) boards in limited minutes. The Lady Mavs led (37-23) at the half and came out of the locker room energized as they held Hilbert to only four free throw buckets in the first ten minutes of the second half. The win keeps them perfect at (8-0) in AMCC play and moves them to (14-1) overall. They will host La Roche College on Wednesday (1/23) at 5:30pm. (Dated 1.21.08)
Mavericks End Skid at Altoona

(Altoona, PA) - On a record setting night the Medaille College men’s basketball team ended their six game losing streak by upending Penn State-Altoona (82-71). The Mavs were in desperate need of a win as they took to the road and they responded well to the adversity as they used a strong team game to hold off the host Lions. Senior, James McNeil (Erie, PA/North West Collegiate) became the schools all time leading scorer with his (19) point performance, he now has (1,296) points in his career, eclipsing the previous mark of (1,279) held by Rene Smith (’04). The Mavs trailed (41-35) at the break but used a dominant second half on their way to victory. The win evens the Mavs record at (7-7) overall and they keep themselves in contention in the AMCC with a (2-5) conference mark. On Wednesday (1/23) the Mavs will host La Roche College at 7:30pm. Women’s Hoops Keeps on Rolling

(Altoona, PA) - For the thirteenth straight game the #18 ranked Medaille College women’s basketball team left the court victorious as they dispensed of AMCC foe Penn State-Altoona (77-54) on the road. The win keeps Medaille perfect in conference play at (7-0) and moves them to (13-1) overall. In the victory senior, forward, Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) rebounded from her lowest point total of her career (3) in a win over Penn State-Behrend as she notched a game high (25) points and (8) boards. She conneceted on (10 of 15) shots from the floor. In the backcourt, senior, Amanda Walling (South New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) poured in (13) points on (5 of 10) shooting as she continued her stellar play of late. The Lady Mavs won the game in the first half as they held a (44-21) advantage at the break with each team scoring (33) points in the second half. Men’s Basketball Upended by Behrend

(Buffalo, NY) - For a sixth straight game the Mavericks were unable to make it into the win column as the staunch defensive play of Penn State-Behrend was too much for Medaille in a (62-51) loss. The Lions defense limited Medaille to twenty first half points as the game was (34-20) at the break. The Mavs shot well from the floor in the second half (53.8%) as they were able to cut into the Behrend lead several times. In the defeat the Mavs were led by senior, James McNeil (Erie, PA/North West Collegiate) who poured in a game high (19) points, leaving him three points shy of the schools all time scoring record of (1,280). Junior, forward, Bill Gersitz (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East) chipped in with (11) points on (5 of 6) shooting from the floor. The loss drops Medaille to (6-7) overall and (1-5) in conference play. They will travel to Penn State-Altoona on Saturday (1/16) for a 3:00pm contest.
Lady Mavs Stifle Penn State-Behrend

(Buffalo, NY) - The Medaille Lady Mavs survived a slow start and used stifling defense to overwhelm AMCC foe Penn State-Behrend (52-26) in the Sullivan Center. The Lady Mavs used the defensive pressure that has moved them to the #18 ranking in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Poll. It was a total team effort as twelve players found the score sheet and no one scored more than ten points. The Lady Mavs held Behrend to (11) points in the first half and forced them to shoot (16.4%) from the field on the day. In the win Medaille was led by senior, guard, Amanda Walling (South New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) who registered a team high (10) points to go along with (7) boards. Also having a good all around day for Medaille was senior, center, Sara Bukas (Hamburg, NY/Holy Angels) as she scored (8) points, pulled down (6) rebounds and blocked (3) shots. The win is the Lady Mavs twelfth straight and they are now (12-1) overall and (6-0) in AMCC play. They will head to Penn State-Altoona for another conference game on Saturday (1/19) for a 1:00pm game.
Volleyball Drops Match to #6 NYU

(Buffalo, NY) - On a day where a milestone was reached the Mavericks dropped a tough four game match to the sixth ranked team in the nation, NYU, (3-1); (23-30, 31-29, 27-30, 24-30). In the first game of the match, senior, setter, Drew Lewandowski (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) became the first Medaille volleyball player (male or female) to reach the (3,000) assist mark. He now has (3,029) for his career. The Mavs battled back in the second game to even the match at (1-1) but in the third game the Mavs lost a late game (27-23) lead as NYU rallied to take the third game. In the fourth game NYU proved to be too much as they finished off Medaille. For the second straight match Medaille was led by sophomore, Ryan Metz (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) who finished with a team high (18) kills. His teammate, Ryan Murdie (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) chipped in with (12) kills while only committing (1) error. The loss drops #13 Medaille to (0-2) on the young season. They will hit the court again on Tuesday (1/22) as Division II Mercyhurst College comes to the Sullivan Center for a 7:00pm first serve.
Men’s Volleyball Falls in Season Opener

(Buffalo, NY) - The Medaille College men’s volleyball team was hoping to open the 2008 season on a winning note, but the Trojans from Mt. Olive College (NC) had different plans as they handed the Mavs a (3-1); (30-20, 30-22, 27-30, 30-28) loss. The Trojans are an NCAA Division II scholarship program and the Mavs rallied after dropping the first two games but couldn’t hang on for the win. In the loss the Mavs were led by sophomore, outside hitter, Ryan Metz (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) who had a team high (14) kills. Senior, setter, Drew Lewandowski (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) continued his quest toward the 3,000 assist plateau as he passed out (42) helpers, leaving him with (2,993) for his career. He did, however, eclipse the (400) dig mark for his career as he ended the night with (11), giving him (405) for his career. The loss leaves Medaille at (0-1) on the year as they will take on #6 ranked NYU tomorrow morning (1/13) at 11:00am in the Sullivan Center.
Men’s Hoops Falls to Pitt-Greensburg

(Buffalo, NY) - The Medaille men’s basketball team was trying to get back in the win column as they hosted Pitt-Greensburg in the Sullivan Center today. However, poor shooting from the free throw line and some costly turnovers doomed the Mavs in their (80-71) loss. In the loss the Mavs received double digit scoring performances from three players, Keith Hack (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) led the way with (17) points, Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) chipped in with (15) points, and Bill Gersitz (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East) tallied (12). For the Bobcats it would be Jacquet Wells (Washington, PA/Washington) leading the way as he posted a game high (22) points in the victory. The loss drops Medaille to (6-6) overall and (1-4) in conference play. They will host Penn State-Behrend on Wednesday (1/16) with an 8:00pm tipoff.
Lady Mavs Survive Bobcat Scare

(Buffalo, NY) - The Medaille College women’s basketball kept its winning streak intact as they held off a tough Pitt-Greensburg squad (69-68) in the Sullivan Center. It was a back and forth affair with each team knocking down big buckets and coming up with critical defensive stops. None bigger than Sara Bukas’ (Hamburg, NY/Holy Angels) blocked shot on a layup up attempt with (3.1) seconds remaining on the clock, it was her third of the day. The Bobcats would get a final attempt to win as Tiffany Menhorn (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) missed long on a shot from 12 feet. The difference in the game for Medaille was the frontcourt duo of Bukas and Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark), Baker led the way with (19) points and (9) boards while Bukas tied a career high with (18) points. In the backcourt the Lady Mavs received a strong performance from senior, Marisa Clark (Hilton, NY/Hilton) who finished the day with (9) points, (7) rebounds, (11) assists and (2) blocked shots. In the loss the Bobcats were led by Nicole Reiser (Renfrew, PA/Knoch), who finished with a game high (23) points on (7 of 11) shooting from the floor, including (5 of 6) from behind the three point arc. The 18th ranked Lady Mavs won their eleventh straight game and are currently (11-1) overall and (5-0) in AMCC play. They will host Penn State-Behrend on Wednesday (1/16) at 6:00pm.
Men’s Hoops Falls at Lake Erie

(Painesville, OH) - The Medaille College men’s basketball team was looking to snap their three game skid as they traveled to defending AMCC champion Lake Erie College. The Mavs would find themselves down big early (24-6) with eight minutes remaining in the first half. They would scrap their way back within four early in the second half before falling to Lake Erie (86-72). In the loss the Mavs received a strong performance from senior, James McNeil (Erie, PA/North West Collegiate) who tallied a game high (27) points on (10 of 19) shooting from the floor, including connecting on (5 of 11) three pointers. Also chipping in with a strong performance was freshman, guard, Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) who scored (9) points and grabbed (9) boards. The loss drops Medaille to (6-5) overall and (1-3) in AMCC play. The Mavs will host Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday (1/12) at 3:00pm in the Sullivan Center.
Lady Mavs Hang On For 10th Straight Win

(Painesville, OH) - After jumping out to an early ten point lead the Lady Mavs withstood a (15-0) run by Lake Erie and held on for a (69-60) AMCC win, their tenth in a row. Heading into the game Medaille received their highest national ranking ever as they are 18th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. It was another game dominated by senior, forward, Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) as she posted yet another double/double with (22) points and (11) rebounds. Also having a great all around game for Medaille was junior, guard Carissa Ferrucci (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata) who registered (12) points, grabbed (6) boards, came up with (4) steals and dished out (3) assists. The Lady Mavs are now (10-1) overall and (4-0) in conference play as they will host Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday (1/12) at 1:00pm.
Volleyball Opens Season Ranked Nationally

The Medaille College men’s volleyball team will open the 2008 season on Saturday (1/12) at 8:00pm against Division II Mount Olive College in the Sullivan Center. The Mavs find themselves ranked 13th in the CSTV/AVCA Division III Men’s Volleyball Preseason National Rankings. On Sunday (1/13) the Mavs will host New York University at 11:00am, the Violets are ranked 6th in the same preseason poll. The Mavs are looking to improve upon the (10-14) record they posted in the 2007 season.
Medaille Wins at Florida Sunshine Shootout

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) - The Lady Mavs won their ninth straight game today as they beat St. Norbert College (67-53) at the Florida Sunshine Shootout. The win gives them a (2-0) record in Florida and tournament MVP honors went to senior, guard, Marisa Clark (Hilton, NY/Hilton) who followed up a (17) point performance against Colby with a strong all around game as she finished with (12) points, (5) assists, and (3) steals. Also being named to the all tournament team was Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) who posted yet another double/double with (16) points and (15) boards on the day. The Lady Mavs trailed early in the game (10-5) but then they began to find their stride and went on to dominate the rest of the way, leading by as many as (19) points in the second half. The Lady Mavs went into the tournament ranked #21 in the D3hoops.com poll and #23 in the USA Today/ESPN poll. They leave South Florida with a (9-1) record and they will resume AMCC play on Wednesday (1/9) as they head to Painesville, OH to take on Lake Erie College for a 6:00pm tipoff. The loss drops St. Norbert’s to (6-3) on the season.
Lady Mavs Win 8th Straight

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) - Despite a nineteen day layoff the Lady Mavs found a way to extend their win streak to eight games as they beat Colby College (60-47) in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was a tough shooting day for both teams as they were shaking off the rust from the long layoff. However, the Lady Mavs overcame poor shooting to overpower Colby. It would be senior, guard, Marisa Clark (Hilton, NY/Hilton) who would top the scoring column for Medaille as she netted (17) points. The Lady Mavs received strong play on the boards from seniors, Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) and Amanda Walling (South New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) as they both pulled down (11) caroms. The win moves Medaille to (8-1) on the year, while Colby College falls to (1-6). The Lady Mavs will take on St. Norbert College tomorrow (1/5) at 12:00pm in South Florida.
Men’s Basketball Falls at NYU

(New York, NY) - After an eighteen day layoff the Mavs headed to the Big Apple to take on New York University in Manhattan. The Violets proved to be too much for the Mavs as they handed Medaille an (81-60) loss. The Mavs were led by junior, forward, Bill Gersitz (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East) who registered a team high (15) points on (7 of 14) shooting from the floor and (5) boards. The Mavs got two players back in this contest as Jacob Reisdorf (Strykersville, NY/Holland) and Keith Hack (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) both made their season debuts after suffering injuries in the preseason. For the Mavs it was their third straight loss and they find themselves at (6-4) on the year. They will look to get back into the win column as they return to AMCC action at Lake Erie College on Wednesday (1/9) as they take on the reigning conference champion Storm with an 8:00pm tipoff.
Carr Named Buffalo News Runner of the Year

For the fourth time in five years Allison Carr, the Mavericks cross country coach, was named the Buffalo News Runner of the Year. It is the highest distinction for local runners. She also won the award in (2003, 2004, and 2005). She also has a Rochester Runner of the Year (2004) award under her belt. Carr became the Mavs cross country coach during the 2006 season and has moved the program forward as a result of her efforts. She will look to make the Olympic Qualifiers during the 2008 season.
Mavs Drop Heartbreaker

(Fredonia, NY) - The men’s basketball team dropped their second straight game as they lost a heartbreaking game at Fredonia State (62-60). The Mavs wasted a strong performance by James McNeil (Erie, PA/North West Collegiate) who registered a game high (27) points in the loss. The Mavs tied the score at (60-60) with (0:28) remaining on a layup by Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) he was fouled on the play and converted the free throw. It would be Fredonia that would take the last shot as Julius Bryant nailed a jumper as time expired giving Fredonia the win. The loss drops Medaille to (6-3) on the year. The Mavs will head to the Big Apple to take on New York University on Thursday (1/3) for a 7:00pm tip-off.
Lady Mavs Complete Weekend Sweep

(Buffalo, NY)- The Medaille College women’s baketball team won their seventh straight game as they bested SUNY-IT (70-55) in the Sullivan Center this afternoon, they had beaten Buffalo State the previous night. It was a game that was dominated by Medaille the entire way as they led by as many as (21) points in the game. Another huge game came from Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) who had game highs with (23) points and (13) boards. With her fifth rebound of the game Amanda became the first Medaille basketball player, male or female, to reach the (900) rebound mark. She currently has (908) for her career. The Lady Mavs executed beautifully on the fast break in this contest as they scored (14) points on the break using precision passing and unselfish play. In the loss the Wildcats were led by Andrea Beach (Watertown, NY/Jefferson C.C.) who had a team high (15) points, she was (5 for 7) from behind the three point arc. With the win Medaille improves to (7-1) on the year while SUNY-IT falls to (4-2). The Lady Mavs will next spring into action as they head South to Miami, FL to take part in the Florida Sunshine Shootout where they will play Colby College (ME) on Friday, January 4th at 4:00pm.
Medaille Rolls Past Buffalo State in Women’s Hoops

(Buffalo, NY) - The Lady Mavs were playing their first game since entering the top 25 rankings and they proved their worth (#21) as they pounded crosstown foe Buffalo State (69-40). The game began slowly for Medaille as Buffalo State hit their first two free throws in the early stages of the game. Once the Lady Mavs found their groove they overwhelmed the Bengals going on an (11-0) run. The Lady Mavs went on another run of (13-2) taking a commanding (23-4) lead. Their stout defense held Buffalo State without a field goal for the first (9:40) of play. They would parlay that stretch to a (40-24) halftime lead. It was a game that saw (54) total turnovers and Medaille turned the Bengal errors into (28) points. The Lady Mavs were once again led by senior, forward, Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY/Newark) who had a game high (22) points on (8 of 9) shooting from the floor. In the loss Buffalo State was led by Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) who had a team best (11) points to go along with (5) boards. The win moves Medaille to (6-1) on the year while Buffalo State falls to (4-5). The Lady Mavs will host SUNY-IT tomorrow (12/15) for a 2:00pm tipoff in the Sullivan Center.
Lady Mavs Break into the Top 25

After winning five straight games the Medaille College women’s basketball team broke into the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. The Lady Mavs are ranked 21st nationally as they head into a pair of games this weekend. On Friday (12/14) Medaille will host Buffalo State College at 4:00pm and then the Wildcats from SUNY-IT will come to the Sullivan Center on Saturday (12/15) for a 2:00pm tipoff. The Lady Mavs are currently (5-1) on the season.
