In his first USL PDL match on May 14, he was the Fevers first substitute off the bench and paid dividends for the club almost immediately. Boughton, who entered the match in the 60th minute, received a through ball in the 76th minute and when going to goal was taken down in the box which led to the Fever being awarded the penalty kick. Teammate Cam Jordan stepped up and had his first attempt blocked, but was there to successfully convert his own rebound.

Boughton then became the first player in Medaille College history to be a starter in a USL PDL match on May 20 against the Chicago Fire Premier. Boughton played from his wing midfield position and contributed many nice runs in his 58 minutes of play. Boughton also became the first Medaille player in PDL history to receive a yellow card when he was booked for a hard tackle in 36th minute. Azzarito and Radlich Play for the Piranhas

Tiffany Azzarito and Danielle Radlich are spending their summer days as players in USL’s W-League team Hampton Roads Piranhas located in Virginia Beach, VA. Ironically, the Hampton Roads Piranhas are sponsored by Cal’z Pizza, a popular pizza chain in the Virginia Beach area with 9 locations and that is managed by former Medaille men’s soccer player Nick Herdlein and some of his family members. Nick graduated from Medaille in 2003 and was a four year starter and three year captain for the men.

The women have so far played two matches for the Piranhas, in which Azzarito started both matches and currently ranks sixth on the team in minutes played with 135 minutes. Azzarito, who is no stranger to the W-League after playing the 2005 season for the Rochester team, was prepared for intense competition of the W-League.

Tiffany has started both matches on defense and played the entire 90 minutes in the team’s last match a 2-0 win over Fredericksburg. “We did play as a team tonight,” said head coach Tony Nweke. “Once our defense is organized, the rest is easy. The whole team worked very hard at practice all week and I am very proud of them.” Radlich came off the bench in both matches and has contributed 23 minutes of solid offensive play thus far. She will surely be looking to make a bigger impact as the season progresses.

Alumni Start for the Queen City Futbol Club

Former Medaille College players Andrew Larracuente, Cory Cwiklinski, and Jeremy Watson are all starters on Buffalo’s local NPSL team the Queen City Futbol Club.

So far QCFC has played three matches and Larracuente has played every minute thus far. He is really a team leader at his central back position. “Watching Andrew play as dominating as he has at such a high level of soccer is really a tribute to all of hard work he put into it here for us, his attitude, work rate, and support he has received from his family,” said Coach Daniel Krzyzanowicz, Medaille head coach.

Cory started and played every minute in the first two matches at the central midfield position before missing the third match due to other obligations. “Cory is a great midfielder and is playing well thus far, but had he kept healthy this past fall, he probably would be playing in a higher level of USL soccer. Hopefully, he will grow from this experience and maybe be able to move to a higher level of soccer,” said Coach Krzyzanowicz.

Watson, who signed late with the team, played all 90 in the team’s most recent match this past weekend. “Jeremy is a fierce competitor and will no doubt help make the team a better club,” said Coach Krzyzanowicz.
